I first met writer Maria Popova in Krista Tippett’s Becoming Wise: An Inquiry into the Mystery and Art of Living, because she was one of Tippett’s interview subjects on her long-running podcast On Being. I looked up her blog The Marginalian, but have yet to explore that deeply because (ironically!) I’m not crazy about reading good writing online. In the meantime I found one of her published books, and while far from a scientist myself, I am happy to find this particular one because I’ve always had a hunch that spirituality, poetry, and science can overlap a lot. I’m looking forward to this as I would to a very special delicious meal. I just put a hold on the print version, though, because the audio edition clearly isn’t going be enough — reviewers talk about how beautiful and integrated the illustrations are to the whole work, so I’ll be glad to have the print edition at hand as well.
