I read a few of these poems each day through most of the month of November, and I am sorry to say that I connected with very few of them. I have previously been moved by the work of Joy Harjo (Mvskoke Nation), the editor and former U.S. Poet Laureate, but the rest of the poets in this anthology were somewhere beyond my grasp. I think I will read a little more of her work, and keep my eye out for other Native poets to sample.
